Will essential oils stain my clothes?

The addition of essential oils is to the perfume ingredient of SURF in order to enhance the fragrance of the product. The product has been rigorously tested in laboratory and consumer testing to ensure that your clothes are left clean and fresh. No staining issues of this nature have been highlighted under normal use conditions.

How strong will the smell be and will it overpower my perfume or body spray?

The amount of perfume ingredient we have in our laundry products is very small compared to the amount of perfume ingredient in a body spray or perfume. Therefore the strength of perfume from your laundry product on your clothes will not overpower your perfume or body spray.

Will essential oils make my clothes greasy or give them a different texture?

The addition of essential oils is to the perfume ingredient of SURF in order to enhance the fragrance of the product. The product has been tested rigorously in laboratory and consumer testing to ensure that your clothes left feeling clean and fresh. No product residue issues have been highlighted under normal use conditions.

Will the oils really have an effect on how I feel?

SURF with essential oils has been formulated as a laundry detergent with a great fragrance; as with all laundry detergents, fabrics treated with the detergent make clothes clean and fresh. The essential oils enhance the fragrance of the detergent, but they do not have a direct effect on your emotions.

Will I be able to wash out the smell if I don’t like it?

If you are not happy with the smell of the detergent you have just bought, it is possible to give it an extra spin to try and decrease the smell of the detergent. Although we do hope you enjoy the fragrances that SURF with essential oils has to offer.

Can the liquid be burned as a normal essential oil?

No. SURF with essential oils has been formulated as a laundry detergent with a great fragrance and is to be only used in the laundry of garments. We strongly advise against the burning of the laundry liquid as the ingredients are not flammable and if heated, toxic vapours may be formed.

Does the presence of the essential oils decrease the effectiveness of the stain remover at all?

The addition of essential oils to the perfume ingredient of SURF is to enhance the fragrance of the product; this has no effect on the cleaning ingredients of the detergent. SURF with essential oils has been tested in our laboratories to ensure we provide optimum cleaning power.

Does the type of fabric I’m washing have an influence on the effectiveness of the essential oil?

The products have been tested rigorously in the laboratory and in consumer homes on a range of common garment material to ensure optimum cleaning. We advice you follow the wash garment instruction of the fabric you are washing. For delicates we also advise you to use a detergent that is specially formulated for delicates.

Will essential oils have an effect on the appearance of my clothes in any way?

The addition of essential oils is to the perfume ingredient of SURF in order to enhance the fragrance of the product. The product has been rigorously tested in laboratory and consumer testing to ensure that your clothes are left clean and fresh. The essential oils should not have any affect on the appearance of garments.

Will they cause the fabric to shrink or expand?

SURF with essential oils works in the same way any other laundry product will work. As long as the clothes are washed with this product under normal washing conditions as you would any other laundry detergent provided you follow the wash care label, we do not expect there to be any shrinkage or expansion of clothing.

Are essential oils included in tablets, powders and liquids?

Yes. The whole SURF range has been re-launched with the addition of essential oils across all formats, powders, liquids and tablets.

Why have you introduced Small & Mighty?

We've created a new generation of super-concentrated liquid detergents that are bursting with fragrance. They give you the same excellent cleaning power in a smaller, more convenient bottle, that's easier to carry.

Why isn't there a dosing ball with Small & Mighty?

You don't need a dosing ball! Just pop one capful of liquid straight into the machine dispenser.

Do I put the product in the dispensing drawer or in the drum?

Just measure the right amount of liquid using the Small & Mighty cap and pour straight into the dispensing drawer. If you want to use a dosing ball you can, but don't forget it's twice as concentrated as normal liquid so you only need half the amount!

Help! There's a stain that SURF hasn't got rid of - why not?

SURF removes 99 of the most common stains around. You can check out the full list here. But if you're left with an unusual or particularly stubborn stain, our Stubborn Stain Solver may give you useful advice.

Have you changed SURF's fragrance?

SURF comes in three different fragrances, so it depends which one you use. SURF hasn't changed - it still has the garden fresh smell that so many of our customers love. The exotic perfume of SURF Tropical is proving very popular, so we've no plans to change a good thing. but we have introduced a brand new fragrance, Cool Fresh. It's an invigorating minty, lemony combination that leaves your clothes really clean and fresh.

Is it possible that SURF Tropical liquid will dye my clothes pink?

Definitely not! The dye that makes Tropical liquid look pink is totally water soluble and won't affect the colour of your wash. Perhaps something red, like an odd sock, slipped into the load by mistake? If the wash was white cotton, Dylon Colour Run Remover will remove the pink.

Why does the price of SURF sometimes vary by retailer?

Unfortunately, we can't do anything about this. It's up to individual shops to decide how much they charge you for SURF detergents.

Can SURF have accidentally bleached my clothes?

SURF powder does contain some bleaching agents that are used to bleach coloured stains in the cleaning process. SURF liquids do not contain bleach and are more suitable for colour washes, keeping colour vibrant for longer - although as with any detergent, after lots of washes some colours may fade. Why isn't there a non-biological SURF?

One of the best things about SURF is its fantastic cleaning power, and this is partly thanks to the enzymes in our biological formula. If we took these out, you'd really notice the difference. Then people who buy SURF specially for the clean fresh results wouldn't be very happy!

Why don't you make a non-perfumed SURF?

Unfortunately, detergents don't smell great without perfume. Also, most people who buy SURF buy it because they love the way it leaves their clothes so freshly fragranced.

Why are there speckles in SURF powder and tablets?

The speckles are just there to make SURF even more fun and colourful. They have the same great fragrance and cleaning power as white SURF. And don't worry, the speckle dyes are completely water soluble and won't stain your clothes.
